Mixed Berry Blast Smoothie

 

 

   
 

When your body craves sugar, it sends signals to your brain which tempt you to buy that one 'little' chocolate bar, or add another sugar cube to that Coffee. This is human nature and sometimes its good just to relax and indulge in your favourite dessert. However, why not compensate for both your cravings and your health with this tasty, energy filled Berry Smoothie. Here is what you will be needing: 

  • Blender [Need one of these?]
  • 4-7 Strawberries
  • Handful of Blackberries
  • 3-5 Blueberries
  • Half a Cup of plain Yogurt
  • 1 Cup of Milk
  • A few Ice Cubes

Step 1
This step is simply to gather your ingredients and prepare them. The Strawberries need their green stalks/leaves removed, and all the berries need to be washed under a cold tap. Frozen Berries are fine, but the riper the fruit, the more flavours you will taste.

Step 2
Place the Berries in the blender all at once along with the cup of Milk you have prepared. Set to blend at a moderate speed.

Step 3
Once the Berries and Milk are nicely blended (this will take around 20 seconds). We are going to add the Ice cubes in and set to blend on a slow setting. This will allow the Ice to juggle around and get crushed into the mix.

Step 4
Once you are satisfied with the ice being small enough, add the half cup of plain Yogurt into the blender. This is used to thicken the mix. Berries are very water based, and so by not adding the Yogurt, we are effectively making a juice. Nice, but not filling enough. Set to blend at a high speed.

Step 5
Check the mixture, and blend till satisfied. Enjoy!

NOTE: This Smoothie is an excellent choice to consume 30 minutes prior to working out or playing sport. It provides an excellent source of Energy and will allow you to go that little bit further/longer.
